WA Sporting Car Club member, Daniel Ricciardo, dominated British F3 at Oulton Park in England on the weekend with victory in both races.
Race 1 saw Ricciardo’s team mate, Max Chilton, in the lead but Max jumped the start and Ricciardo always knew he was fighting for the lead with Nick Tandy who eventually finished 2.459 seconds behind Ricciardo. Max finished third on track but with one minute added to his elapsed time for the jumped start it dropped him to 17th place.
In race 2 on Monday, Ricciardo went past the pole sitter, Austrian, Walter Grubmuller, on the outside to take the lead before the first corner. From there Ricciardo maintained a gap until the chequered flag with a winning margin of 2.625 seconds.
What seemed impossible for a young West Australian just a couple of year’s ago has seen the Red Bull backed Ricciardo became the first West Australia to win a double British F3 round. Just for the record this is was on debut.
