This year has seen an enormous growth in motor racing at Barbagallo Raceway Wanneroo, since April participant numbers have risen by almost 30 percent.
Moreover there has been a remarkable increase in the number of people attending events conducted by the WA Sporting Car Club.
“July saw our largest number of drivers for a State Championship meeting and we did not have two of our bigger classes racing,” Raceway Competitions Manager, Raymond Shaw, said. “With the Formula Fords and Aussie Super Sixes on the program for 16th August we anticipate breaking the July record.”
“Measures taken in 2008 to control rising costs and change the way the club promotes events have been the major factors contributing to the growth of motor racing in WA,” Raymond Shaw said. “It’s not just our racing events but our lower level introductory motor sport activities that have been constantly growing since January. Our planning for the forthcoming 2010 season has thrown up challenges that we will need to meet to cater for the increase in competitors.”
Again the club will put together a day’s entertainment that will appeal to all tastes for motor racing with open wheeler action of Formula Fords, the Camaros, GTHOs, Toranas and Monaros of Historic Touring Cars, HQs, as well as the Ford versus Holden rivalry of our Aussie Super Six Series and of course to wrap up the big programme we have the big V8 Sports Sedans taking on the slick Sports Cars.
There will also be plenty of fun for the kids with air brush tattooing and free amusement rides. West Coast Stuntors will keep the crowd entertained during the official’s lunch break with stunt bike action.
Racing starts at 10:25am on Sunday, 16th August, at Barbagallo Raceway Wanneroo. Admission is $10 adults and under 14 free.
