Donna Vanzetti from the Gingin Observatory raced Junior Stock cars for four years, starting as a 12 year old.
Donna got back into racing many years later, when her brother and cousins decided they were tired of watching the kids having all the fun out on the track.
Over the past four years, the group has improved their cars and driving skills.
This lead to the opportunity to compete in an Australian title was made that much easier with it being held just down the road at Ellenbrook.
The Street Stock 2010 National Titles were held at Ellenbrook Speedway over the ANZAC Day weekend.
There were 81 cars nominated with competitors coming from all over Australia. Three ladies are included in this field.
The Street Stock division is raced on an oval dirt track in sedans that have very little modifications done to them.
This makes the racing extremely competitive as cars are all relatively even and it comes down to driver ability.
The weekend consisted of scrutineering all cars and practice sessions, followed by two days of racing with heats and finals.
There were plenty of thrills and spills and close racing which was great for the spectators.
Donna’s race plan was to look ahead and try and miss all the smashes and keep her car in one piece to try and get into a final.
