Sea Rescue annual general meeting

The Two Rocks Volunteer Sea Rescue Group held their annual general meeting, last Sunday morning.

David Haynes was elected Commander, with Michael Parker being elected as deputy Commander.

The meeting agreed to replace their formal identity in the constitution. The group is to be know as Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group. A number of other minor changes were made to the consitiution.

Outgoing commander, Trevor Hutchinson, reported that the new radar tower was now fully installed and the new 8.5 metre NIAD rescue boat would be delivered early next year. Mr Hutchinson said that a new weather station was being installed at Two Rocks.

Operationally, the Two Rocks group had been involved in 30 rescues and 121 training days over the past 12 months with over 8,500 volunteer hours put in by Two Rocks members.

Ned Shephard and Jim Smith were announced this year’s ‘Hardest working non committee members.’

John and Jean Collier were announced as VMR 15 year volunteer service medal recipents at the meeting.
