The Gingin Soundshell located in the magnificent Granville Park has been a project of the Gingin Chittering Lions Club for the past three years. Last Friday night they officially opened the facility and handed it over the the Shire of Gingin.

The soundshell, estimated to have cost over $200,000 with many local residents volunteering their time and skills to give the community a wonderful facility. The footings were laid in April 2010. The stone work, steel frame roof with acoustic ceiling, electrical work and stage lighting followed. The project was completed in mid December 2010, just in time for the Gingin Carols by Torchlight.

The Gingin District school band and a group of local mussos performed before the official opening.
