The common complaint of ‘those noisy bloody dirt bikes’ from people whose memories of their own vigorous and enthusiastic youth, now long dead, is hugely flawed.
While trying to fix their problem with simple tactical responses, ban this, license that, these folk, who for the most part, like to ‘remain anonymous’ fail to adhere to this one beautiful truth.
First seek to understand, and then seek to be understood. Ok, let’s forget their small minded tactics for a moment and think strategy.
Imagine, if you would, tomorrow, you are a 50 year old Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo flying with your mob along your coastal habitat. You come across a similar, mad mob of screaming motorbikes. Kicking up dust and swerving, flying dangerously through the air, at times barely staying upright!
Should you and your family flock of birds be concerned?
Well, not nearly as concerned as you would at the sight of those bigger toys.
The Bulldozer, Scraper, crusher and rock-roller. These machines are about to permanently transform you’re once pristine, 10,000 years old, perfectly evolved eco system into a brick and tile wasteland. Complete with dogs, cats, computers, bikes, boats and motor-vehicles.
So to all the boy’s and girl’s, young and old, out there on those Aussie bush trails, twist open those throttles, rev those engines hard and jump for joy. Relish the wind in your face, the feeling of power and freedom, for it could be short-lived.
Sadly, there are people; perhaps even living next door who are hell bent on taking your God given freedoms away. The police and frustrated citizens have no answers. The solution is in our hands.
The motorcycle owners and the riders of WA already have a hard working band of dedicated professionals, Recreational Trail Riders Association, whose sole aim is to: Protect and extend quality, safer off-road riding opportunities for Western Australian recreational trail bike riders of all ages.; to promote and encourage safety and responsible riding attitudes, including minimizing noise and trail damage; to actively pursue the needs of trail bike riders with government agencies, councils, landowners and other stakeholders; and help change public attitudes and collate the voices of many riders into a single chorus.
