Over the past few weeks there has been discussion about the infrastructure needs for the Yanchep Two Rocks region in light of the continuous growth in the region.
The City of Wanneroo provided the following information: New library, similar to Clarkson library - The City of Wanneroo is committed to further development of library services in the northern suburbs. Over the past year, Yanchep Library doubled both its book stock and its premises. A new library is planned in approximately 10 to 15 years and is likely to be a multi-purpose space, combining library with other community facilities and council services.
The roll out of future sports ovals and changerooms is very much dependant on the development time frames of the land developers of the region. Ongoing discussions are being held with these developers and the council acknowledges the need for increased sporting facilities and reserves as part of the broader planning processes.
Discussions with stakeholders heavily promote the need for senior sized oval development and co-location opportunities as well as funding models to bring about development as soon as practically possible. Localised facility and sporting reserve development will be included on the 10 year Capital Works programs as time frames are established flowing from the ongoing dialogue with developers and other stakeholders.
The Yanchep Lagoon Foreshore Plan, will be considered as part of 2010/11 budget deliberations. Councillors and council staff inspected various community facilities last Saturday, including the Yanchep Lagoon. Council will shortly review its 10 year financial plan and will be discussing the Yanchep Lagoon as part of this.
The proposed foreshore walkway between Yanchep and Two Rocks is expected to be provided as part of future land development.
