Recently, the Sunday Times revealed concerns about neglect, lack of services and dignity at some Aged Care Homes including Bethanie Beachside at Yanchep.
Bethanie Group chief executive officer, Wayne Belcher, told the Sunday Times this week: “That compliant scheme officials visited Yanchep’s Bethanie Beachside aged care facility and he was expecting a report on the enquiry by mid-March.”
Over the past six months, the Sun City News has received several emails and phone calls raising a number of issues.
Unfortunately, without sufficient information, staff at the Sun City News could not reasonably substantiate those accusations.
The allegations revolved around staff retrenchments, staff departures, and issues related to various concerns about drugs, both perscription and illicit.
One former employee from Bethanie Beachside told the Sun City News that: “Staff were set up over the sale of illicit drugs found in a staff room.”
This staff member said she was made to sign a document on her termination, that she would not talk to the media, police or any authorities.
The Sunday Times’ article told of residents (clients) waiting hours for help after accidents because of understaffing, being left naked on the toilet for an hour, and getting little or poor quality food.
Late last year, the Sun City News attempted to contact Bethanie Beachside about these allegations.
Each phone call was stonewalled with the comment: “There’s no one here that can comment, I will get the new manager to ring you back.”
