 What boom!

What boom!

Our politicians and big business keep telling us about the boom, and yes the resources sector is booming, but they are not supporting the wider Australian industry.

For example: Only yesterday, Bluescope Steel announced that over 1000 workers and contractors will lose their jobs soon - Our booming resources industry buys close to 90 percent of their steel from overseas - Is that good for Australia?

I don't think so.

Our resources industry talk in thousands of million in profit, but most of that profit is going overseas - And they say they can't afford a mining profits tax!

Manufacturing in Australia is stuffed, our wage structure instantly prices Australian made products out of the market.

I hear some politicians saying we need to manufacture smarter - These same politicians create regulations to stop the entrepreneurial manufacturer by saying - 'You can't do that'.

Our banking industry only support actions that will increase their bottom line - Bank profits are increasing, yet we are all have out credit card booked up close to the max - More profits for the banks.

Bring in products from overseas, only create less work in Australia for everyone - Our big industry is selling off our resources cheaply only for us to buy it back as an imported product with uncertain quality.

It is time for all Australians to support true Australian businesses and products.

The alternative is for Australia to become the 'Unlucky Country' very soon.

Do you check that you are buying Australian made products - If not, why not?

Unfortunately all these big multi nationals source their project components overseas at a fraction of the cost.

This isn't a new phenomenom, Australia manufacturing industry has eroded dramatically over the past 40 years.

Very little is produced here.

Fortunately we do have a vast resource industry, but we have become to reliant on it.

You just have to look to the US to see how their economy has collapsed on the back of manufacturing.

The once bustling cities that used to manufacture steel, cars, and most of the other products and machinery are now ghost towns.
