 Politicians have lost the plot

Politicians have lost the plot

Australia has the delightful three tier political governing system that simply shows how over-governed our country is.

Being governed by federal, state and local government bureaucrats can be quite exhausting at times.

Just look at the current situation.

At the Federal level, we see the amazing redhead, Julia Gillard fronting up to the mad monk, Tony Abbott.

Personally, I'm not sure which one of these two very different personalities has the ticker and capability to lead the nation for the next few years.

Both are radical in their own way, and I don't think either has the credentials to be a leader of the nation.

They both appear to be political puppets.

Then at the State Government level, the Barnett government don't seem to understand the needs of the outer northern region of the metropolitan area.

Infrastructure needs are trailing way behind the growth of the region.

There is a lack of proper transport systems - the Mitchell Freeway needs to be extended to Neerabup, the railway needs to be extended to Yanchep and the bus services need to be improved.

Basic services such as natural gas, high speed broadband and access to a doctor need to be a priority.

But our state politicians would prefer to waste their time in parliament arguing over the name of a piece of legislation: The Butler - Brighton Bill.

Then at the Local Government level, we have some councillors with big egos, lack of knowledge and simply wasting the community's money.

Anyone elected to council should remember that they responsible for managing the community's assets and making decisions in the best interest of the wider community.

Sadly, a couple of councillors seem to have their self interests first and the community second.

I think the entire governing system in Australia needs to be totally overhauled - Simply we don't need three levels of government for 22 million people.

The three tier system of government costs every resident thousands of dollars, every year in bureaucratic miss-management.

I believe Australia could easily be better managed with an improved Federal governing system, then completely abolish the current State and Local Government system.

Then introduce a county style of government to address the issue that aren't within the Federal system.

For example: Currently Federal, State and Local Council are involved in administrating health system.

Why wouldn't you have a national government managing the health system, and bugger off both the State and Local Government's involvement.

It would be less expensive, and the political blame game would be ended.

Equally, why do we have different road laws in every state?

One country, one set of road laws, I believe would save lives.

Another crazy Australianism is our schooling standards.

They are different in every state, why?

Sadly, our current politicians would not be willing to change the current system because it all to easy to blame another level of politics as the problem.

These are just a few of the issues that are currently tied up in the three tier government system.

We need change to this process.

What do you think?
